Volunteer Interests/Skills Tab
The Volunteer Interests/Skills tab on the Affiliate Setup screen allows you to customize possible volunteer interests and skills and their associated attributes, which you may then assign to your volunteers and use to further categorize them in Keystone.
Interests/Skills pane
Available interests and skills are listed in the Interests/Skills pane. For the interests and skills predefined in Keystone, one or two letters have been placed in front of the name in order to help sort and group them together. The letters used are:
- I = Interest
- SC = Skill Construction
- SG = Skill General
- SO = Skill Office
You can delete from, add to, or modify entries in the Interests/Skills list as needed by your affiliate. The one exception to this is the Undefined skill, which cannot be modified or deleted.
Attributes pane
Attributes help further describe the skills and interests you have defined, as in describing someone’s skill level. For example, if you enter a skill of Framing for a volunteer, an attribute of Skilled would help describe the level of that volunteer’s skill.
- Group field - Any attributes with the same number in their corresponding Group field are considered ‘grouped together’. For example, if you assign a 1 to the Group fields of the attributes Beginner, Skilled, Expert, Trade, and Licensed, those attributes will be grouped together. You can then use these to describe the possible skill levels a volunteer might have.
After you set up a group, you can assign that Group number to any of the skills or interests listed in the Interests/Skills pane. This links the group of attributes you set up to that skill or interest, which helps you track additional information about a volunteer’s skill or interest.
Continuing the example, if you took Group 1 (see above) and assigned it to the skill SC Framing, when you assign SC Framing to a volunteer, you can also specify whether they are Beginner, Skilled, Expert, Trade, or Licensed.
A Group number of 0 is Undefined. This number is reserved by Keystone and cannot be edited.
- Order field - The Order number in the Attributes list specifies the sort order that will be applied to the attributes within a group when they are presented as options in Keystone.
- Name field - This is the name of the attribute, such as Skilled or Licensed or Available AM only.
