Information about TechSoup

We want to share with Habitat for Humanity Affiliates a resource many of your fellow affiliates have already taken advantage of.

TechSoup.org offers low-cost software and resources to nonprofit organizations through partnerships they have developed with various software companies. The program, called TechSoup Stock, is open to all qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. Software is available through TechSoup at substantially discounted prices.

Because Keystone 6 and above will require that you have either the Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows Vista operating system and either Microsoft Office 2003 Professional or any version of Office 2007 that includes Microsoft Access, TechSoup can help make this transition much more affordable to your affiliate if you should need to upgrade software to be ready for Keystone. We offer the following overview of how to order software from TechSoup. MTD is not affiliated with TechSoup in any way, so please refer to TechSoup.org and their technical support resources for assistance.

1. To get started at TechSoup, we suggest you read their First Time Here page. This page covers most of the details you will need to register and get started with TechSoup.


2. Join MyTechSoup using their registration page.

Each individual at your affiliate who will place orders with TechSoup will need their own personal account in addition to your affiliate account. (see step below) This allows an affiliate to authorize multiple individuals to place orders.


3. Log in to your personal TechSoup account and register your affiliate by clicking on the Register My Organization link on the left side of the page under Manage My Account.
   
   Note: Verify that your affiliate does not already have an account before you create a new one. If you try to register your affiliate and you see that it is already listed, click on the name of your affiliate to learn how to associate your personal account with your affiliate's existing account.
   
   Once you link your personal account with your affiliate's account, you will be recognized as an authorized representative of your affiliate and be able to place orders. TechSoup will remember all of your information each time you log in to your personal account.


4. Verify that your affiliate meets the requirements of the software donors whose software you wish to order by reviewing TechSoup's Nonprofit Eligibility Requirements and Donor Partner Restrictions page.


5. Log in using the username and password you created for your personal account, then place your order.
   
   Some orders by default are only for the purchases of licenses for that product. If you are ordering a software application for the first time, make sure you request that you want a software CD mailed to you when you order.

6. For your first order only, you will need to fax or mail a copy of your valid nonprofit or charity status documentation to TechSoup. You can obtain the Qualification Form at the preceding link.


7. You can check the status of your order by logging into your TechSoup account and selecting Order Status from under Manage My Account.
