Keystone System Requirements

Keystone Requirements
Keystone is a Microsoft Access application for use on Microsoft Windows computers and networks.
Operating System: Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 3 or greater), Windows Vista (Service Pack 2 or greater - see note below), or Windows 2000 (Service Pack 4) *
CD-ROM drive for installation of program
Monitor: Color with 1024 x 768 minimum resolution
Your computer must at least be able to adequately run the version of Windows you are using. We strongly advise that you exceed the processor and memory requirements for your version of Windows if at all possible.
Note: If your affiliate has Windows Vista systems, the version of Vista your affiliate uses needs to adequately support your existing office computing setup (e.g., if your affiliate's computers are on a network, then your version of Vista needs to support that).
Required Software: Microsoft Office 2003 Professional (Service Pack 2 or greater) or any Microsoft Office 2007 suite that includes Microsoft Access is required; QuickBooks Pro 2003 or higher (only required if you plan to use QuickBooks with Keystone). Keystone is not compatible with older versions of Office such as Office XP or with other programs such as OpenOffice.
If you need to upgrade your version of Microsoft Office or buy new copies, you can obtain Office from TechSoup at a very low cost.
Memory: Your computer's processor and memory configuration must at least be able to adequately run the version of Windows you are using. We strongly advise that you try to exceed your operating system's memory requirements if at all possible. In most cases, 1GB of memory for Windows XP or 2GB for Windows Vista is recommended for everyday use.
Hard Drive Space: Affiliates' databases vary significantly in size, but in general, 100MB is adequate for the Keystone program, related files, and an average affiliate database. However, if you use Keystone's Document and Picture Management features, the size of your Keystone folders can grow significantly and require many times that amount of disk space, though this is unlikely to cause problems given the size of most hard drives. This is something to keep in mind, though, when you perform regular backups of your Keystone files and folders.
Optional Items
Some additional items, while not required, will significantly enhance the effectiveness of Keystone:
- A printer for printing reports, letters, labels, coupons, and receipts.
- Backup software and either an external hard disk drive, a writable CD or DVD drive, or a network storage device for backup purposes.
- It is strongly recommended that you perform regular backups of the Keystone data to safeguard it from loss or corruption due to hardware failure or virus attacks.
- Local Area Network hardware and software if Keystone is to be used over a network.
- Internet access will allow you to view and participate in the MoreThanData User Forum. Other Keystone downloads will be available on MTD's web site.
- A scanner for digitizing documents or pictures and a digital camera, if you plan to use Keystone's Document and Picture Management tools. Some photocopiers and multi-function printers provide the ability to scan documents to PDF, the standard format for electronic documents. If you have one of these, check to see whether it has this option.
TechSoup - A Valuable Resource for Affordable Software
We encourage affiliates who need to upgrade to Windows 2000, XP, or Vista, or Office 2003 Professional or Office 2007 (versions that include Access) to read our informational page about TechSoup, a nonprofit organization who assists qualifying nonprofits in obtaining software at substantially reduced prices. You can find them at http://www.techsoup.org.
If you have any questions about these changes, please feel free to contact us.
The future of Habitrak 4.x
Due to Microsoft discontinuing support for the database engine used in Habitrak 4.x, MoreThanData discontinued support for Habitrak 4.x and earlier versions of Habitrak as of January 1, 2008. MoreThanData will, of course, continue support for Keystone and its subsequent upgrades.
